LOOKING AT THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF OUR RECENT WARS

HISTORY TELLS US "STAYING HOME" MAY HAVE BEEN WISE

By Gordon Duff STAFF WRITER

Vietnam killed off a generation of Americans.  Our reasons for being in the war were clear.  We wanted to force an oppressive dictatorship on people who wanted to elect communists.  Our friends were brutal dictators and crooks.  The communists are corrupt but popular.  3 million are dead and the communists rule Vietnam.

Saddam was an American ally.  He helped us fight Iran and we allowed him to murder Kurds or anyone else as long as he was our friend.  We armed him, supplied him with poison gas, bio weapons and anything else.  There is considerable evidence that Americans told him he could take Kuwait.  Did a certain family want a war?

After our heroic invasion, Saddam went up and murdered our Kurdish allies while Bush (the good one) sat by.  I was ashamed.  Many of my friends there lost family members.

Prior to 9/11, even prior to his "election" Bush planned to invade Iraq.  Our invasion started a civil war, brought terrorists to Iraq where there had been none and made the US into a nation of war criminals to the rest of the world.  The war bankrupted the US, caused a suspension of our Constitutional rights, killed 5000 Americans and destroyed a country.  It proved to us that our own government will commit any crime for money.

Years later, we face a religious conflict in Afghanistan (really Pakistan, they are the ones "kicking ass and taking names").  The few dozen terrorists we were supposedly after years ago now live safely in Pakistan.  Our war in Afghanistan occasionally kills one of them.  2 dozen take their place.

Smedley Butler (2 Medals of Honor) was right when he said war is a racket.  Hell, we would never have had to fight the Nazis if Americans (Bush) hadn’t financed and supported them.

We can talk patriotism all we want but war is about money, and suckering poor people into fighting.  When we did have a just war, America’s "right" loved Hitler and his money so much they financed a huge anti-war movement themselves.

IF MORE OF US HAD THE GUTS, WE WOULD ADMIT THAT THE ANTI-WAR GROUPS THAT HAVE BEEN ABUSED, INVESTIGATED, LOCKED UP AND ATTACKED IN EVERY WAY WERE, NOT ONLY TOTALLY RIGHT ALL ALONG, BUT ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE WITH "CLEAN HANDS" AND A CLEAN CONSCIENCE.

During WWI, the Germans smuggled Lenin into Russia to take that country out of the war.  Lenin was an economist and brilliant guy.  When he needed money, Lenin and his successor, Stalin, came to the United States and raised the money to build communism by selling bonds on Wall Street.

When the communists wanted factories and oil fields, they came to America for them.  It didn’t matter who they murdered or that they were communists.

When Germany wanted money to build arms plants and concentration camps, they came to America too.  We helped them, and supported them politically.  After all, didn’t we hate Jews as much as the Germans did?  Oh, I forgot, we erased this from our history.

The same peope who financed Stalin, financed Hitler and grew rich off arming both sides in World War 2.

PUSHED INTO WAR FOR TYRANNY AND PROFIT:  THE GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR

Other than providing "durable cover" for stealing trillions of dollars and passing laws that turned America into a police state, NOT ONE positive thing has come out of the Global War on Terror.  We are now bankrupt, our military bogged down occupying countries we really don’t have a clue why we are in and face twice the problems we had before.

The excuse we give Bush for invading Iraq is that he was protecting his father.  However, since he hates his father, that one goes down the drain,

That leaves a desire to suspend Constitutional rights while a pack of thieves robs America and Iraq blind while Fox News, thousands of zomie former military and the religious nutcases cheer it all on, EVEN AFTER THEY LEARN THAT IT WAS ALL BASED ON LIES.

We even paid retired military to lie about the war.  Honor is cheap.  Many of the pundits were also being paid off by the GOP to promote Swift Boat lies.  Perhaps we should organize a memoral for the efforts of these Pentagon Pundits, Cheney and Rumsfeld’s "corps of lying fools."

It would show the Saddam and Dick Cheney embraced laughing over the corpse of a dead American soldier.  Each of their names would be engraved in black granite, with their names in yellow.  Yes, I am that angry about this.  Honor isn’t a joke.

What kind of people have so little self respect they turn the other cheek when they are lied to and their children killed for nothing?  Were they killed for nothing?  Is dying to defend yourself and your friends in a war you should never have been in because politicans have rich friends who make billions in war, dying for something?

LEARN THE LESSON OF VIETNAM.  DON’T BLAME THE TROOPS BUT DON’T SUPPORT UNJUST WAR JUST BECAUSE OUR KIDS ARE DYING IN IT.

Recently we learned that the Bush administration had been using illegal and disgusting propaganda to prevent troops from learning the truth about war crimes, constitutional violations and the falisfied reasons we went to war.

One of those methods was to lie to troops about the Vietnam War and the heroism of those who sacrificed in the most brutal war in our history.  Attacking our war dead and the tens of thousands of combat veterans, many disabled, accusing them of being cowards, became part of official military training.

A NATION GONE TOTALLY NUTS IS A NATION READY TO FALL

When Americans began learning that our President was lying with every word, anyone who spoke up about it was called a traitor.  The democrats, who are, for the most part moderate republicans, simply shut up and went along with things they knew were immoral and wrong.  Only Barak Obama said no.  I am still working to understand him.  I hope we all are.  After all, we spent years with a president we all (mostly all) hated because WE ALLOWED ELECTIONS TO BE STOLEN AND MILLIONS OF AMERICANS VOTED AWAY THEIR OWN FREEDOMS BASED ON LIES THEY KNEW WERE LIES….BUT DIDN’T HAVE THE COURAGE TO FACE.  WE BECAME A NATION OF COWARDS AND BULLIES.  HISTORY MAY ACTUALLY LIST THE BUSH YEARS AS A "MINI-DARK AGE" IN AMERICAN HISTORY.

WHY GO TO WAR?

In a country, programmed into stupidity, addicted to phony news, bloggers and paid liars from special interest groups funded by profiteers and thieves, courage may be in saying no.

I love war.  I love watching it on TV, hearing about victories, even if it is all lies, propaganda and pieced together film clips.  Go ahead, sneak the dead back in the middle of the night.  Hide the wounded away.

Send them all to VA hosptials where, increasingly, murdering veterans seems to be reaching epic proportions.

Bring home the dead.  I will watch the motorcade, take my bike to the cemetery and salute.  Don’t ask me to deal with the devastated family members or their pain.  Don’t ask me to deal with the crippled, the maimed, the emotionally devastated troops or their kids or anything else I can’t turn off with a remote control.

EASY WAY OUT:  LET ME STICK TO FOX NEWS AND CONSERVATIVE BLOGS

If I hear another story of a military chaplain raping a woman in his command, I will explode.

If I hear another story about a whistle blower killing himself with several shots to the head, I will explode.

If I hear one more medical scandal, filthy equipment, bad radiation treatments, "mercy killing"….I will explode.

If I hear about one more child raped in a prison camp by a US soldier, I will explode.

SILENCE:  THE NEW WAR CRIME

My friend Mark spoke up against the war in Iraq and, not only didn’t get a fat consulting job out of it, he also got indicted and lost his house.

Friends in the military who spoke up, both US and Brits, were all "retired" and replaced with crooks and morons we are now having to hunt down and either jail or promote into invisibility.

The silent, those who may have never believed 9/11 or WMDs but are too busy or just don’t like the sick feeling you get when having to face the humiliation of being an American, normally one of the best things imaginable, and finding that former ‘universal truth’ to have become something stained.

Silence is how many hid from shame.

THE LIBERAL KOOKS:  RIGHT ALL ALONG

I never liked the look of the anti-war crowd, or at least some of them.  These were anti-gun people, often with piles of political baggage that I wasn’t behind.

They weren’t "my kind of people."

Other than the parents whose kids died in the war, those who stood up were a small radical minority.  What does that tell us?

Does it say they are bad or that we are?

This is another question that is making me feel ill.
