PROTECT TORTURERS AND ILLEGAL DOMESTIC SPYING FROM PROSECUTION
OR WE WILL LET MORE SICK KIDS DIE

Are sick kids really dying for lack of healthcare in the US? Actually, they are. Each week, while the insurance lobby spends millions behind GOP obstruction for profit, 14000 new families join the uninsured millions. Lives that would be saved by normal healthcare available in other western countries isn’t available to our familes. Tests that could save a life can cost a family their home. Kids die.
Protecting our bloated and failed insurance/medical industry for a pocket of change is not enough. Now, we are told, criminals can’t be prosecuted or the GOP will hold up, not only medical care for kids but will they begin tearing down benefits for troops and veterans like they did when they were in power?
This isn’t supporting the strong over the weak. Yesterday I watched Glenn Beck attack Senator Daniel Inouye’s military service in World War II. According to Beck, Inouye snuck off to fight in a war so he could abuse his veteran status later.
Beck, the tearful sociopath of America’s illiterates failed to notice Daniel Inouye’s missing arm. Beck, non-veteran and failed "disk jockey," failed to note Senator Inouye’s Congressional Medal of Honor.
Every ploy in the book has been used to keep Bush officials and, frankly, Bush himself, out of prison. Millions have been spent. Newspapers and TV networks openly lie and dissemble playing fear and pity in an endless attempt to make American’s forgive the leaders that betrayed them.
It wasn’t just torture, war crimes making us a pariah nation. The torture was seldom used on anyone but common uneducated insurgents like those fighting in dozens of wars across the world, people who are fighting, risking their lives daily, believing they are being freedom loving patriots.
Men and women, we raped, burned, beat and drowned them. We murdered or had murdered while we watched, thousands. Afghanistan is covered with graves, some with hundreds in them, all executed in exactly the same way as the Bosnians we went to war to defend.
We are now fighting the international community to hide mass graves, evidence of war attrocities the US was involved in. How did we get to this point?
With Army Veteran Audra Shay, haggard shadow of "spin-vixen" Ann Coulter, stupid enough to cheer online Klan chatter yet voted top "young" Republican and new voice of the party, it makes more of us yearn for the quiet grace and sensibility of Sarah Palin.
We are facing a test. Are we about law or are we as corrupt as Saddam’s Iraq? We have already changed regimes but we have the remnants of our own Saddam, our own "Baath Party" still around and not running for hiding places while troops carrying playing cards with their photos hunt them down.
Instead, our "playing card" villians are on Sunday talk shows and have their own TV network.
With thousands of Americans in jail for growing marijuana, some for life while murderers go free
With 2000 veterans being investigated simply for being VA patients while "killer docs" go free
While billions of dollars stolen from taxpayers and working Americans fills the coffers of crooked defense contractors and big oil
While lawyers that call rape and murder "inhanced interrogation" can teach our children
While we live in a country where lies are sold as "enhanced information"
While some "veterans service organization" say NOTHING about the war to destroy America’s veterans
I am sometimes thankful that the rest of the world is too busy to keep track of how some Americans look at reality. Years ago, a group of French doctors, well aware of AIDS, decided it would be profitable to get blood products to treat hemopheliacs from AIDS patients.
No more hemopheliacs in France anymore. They didn’t stop there, the French used infected blood on thousands, including new mothers. It was for money. When the guilty were found, they were too important to be jailed. It was all forgiven, even the dead forgave them, we are told.
Here in America, where do we start? What is accountability? What is law and what is politics? We decide, not the government, not President Obama, not Attorney General Eric Holder, not powerful insurance companies.
We decide.
We are facing the worst crimes by any government in our history, approaching the acts of countries we war against based on need to overthrow "tyranny."
Millions of Amerians have bought into the idea that prosecuting someone for ordering the rape and torture of a prisoner or massive illegal domestic spying programs can be forgiven if the crimes they commit are meant to protect us.
Many of those same people would round up all Muslims, Jews and African Americans and Hispanics and put them in camps because they perceive them to be "incongruous" with an "Aryan" America. Thiis is real "backchannel" America.
It isn’t race or religion or even politics, least of all politics, that makes us a country. Our laws, flawed and abused as they are, twisted and chipped away by a Supreme Court in an ideological 5/4 deadlock siding toward the Twilight Zone, are all we have, that, and our ability to make our feelings known, even at personal risk.
Can things really get this crazy? Are the Democrats going to save us from the monsters the Bush administration set on us or will they use them against us too?
Thus far, the monsters are alive and well and we are not.
