Top Obama Administration Officials Hold Rural Health Community Forum
Cabinet Secretaries Kathleen Sebelius, Tom Vilsack, Hilda Solis and Eric Shinseki Participate in Community Forum and Hold Media Availability
WASHINGTON – U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki will host a rural health community forum July 20 in St. John Parish, Louisiana, as part of the Obama Administration’s Rural Tour.
At the 90-minute community forum, the four Cabinet Secretaries will share information about the federal government’s efforts to rebuild and revitalize rural America, listen to local residents about what is going on in rural America, and discuss solutions to the challenges facing our communities.
In June, President Obama announced that top officials from his Administration, including Cabinet Secretaries, would be fanning out across the nation to hold a series of discussions on how we can strengthen rural America. Rural Tour events have already been held in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Michigan. Future events are currently scheduled in Alaska, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Ohio.
All Americans can follow the Rural Tour’s progress online at www.RuralTour.gov or on Twitter at www.twitter.com/RuralTour.
Immediately following the forum, the Cabinet Secretaries will hold a media availability.
