Bush/Cheney Weighed Using Troops To Make U.S. Arrests – NY Times

In today’s New York Times there is an article that is a must read for all American veterans.  It is now apparent that the President of the United States as advised by the Vice President seriously considered using American troops to make arrests within the United States.  This is an incredibly serious situation.  We have not seen this since the early days of the Civil War.  If this had happened, the very character of this republic would have been changed forever.  This is no small thing.  The article is here.

In another article on the same general subject in the Times today, a surprising twist on the Abu Ghraib prison photos appears.  It turns out that the Iraqis that were abused at that prison are much more upset that the photos of their naked bodies were sent throughout the world via the media than they are upset at the torture itself.  It seems that they expected to be tortured by the Americans!  It is the norm in Iraq.  What angered them was the release of the pictures to the press!  One would have to be an Iraqi to understand this I guess.  The article is here.
