1023_400MILITARY IN EUROPE AND RETIREES/VETS WISHING TO VISIT

SPECIAL PRICING AND VIP WELCOME FROM VETERANS TODAY

By Gordon Duff STAFF WRITER

I just returned from Germany.  While in Bernkastel, perhaps the most popular tourist destination in Germany, located close to Ramstein, Bitburg, Spangdahlem, Wiesbaden and other American installations, I spoke with local representatives of the wine and tourism industry about doing something for Americans serving there and those who want to visit for the first time, or go back and see Germany.

Here’s the deal.  I can get 40% off on accomodations, "some" good restaurants and wineries to accept US dollars at par, a huge discount, and private winery and vineyard tours from exclusive prestige producers who are not open to the public.

For groups, I can arrange Mosel cruises and, if the groups are large enough, with wine tastings and live entertainment.  We normally do this for VIP groups from the US representing the beverage industry and some of us thought it would be nice to do something for Americans who helped defend Europe during the Cold War and those serving there now.

I am looking for feedback on what is needed and what we can do.  Our primary military hospital is in Landstuhl, not far away and maybe we can do something for the guys there.  I have a pretty good crew in Germany and we have folks coming thru there who need some TLC.1006_400

I would like VSO’s, unit organizations, MWR organizers from local commands to contact me.  Any individual vet that wants to go solo I will help personally.

Bernkastel is an hour and a half by car from Frankfurt, 40 minutes from Ramstein and 20 minutes from Spandahlem.  Tens of thousands of Americans serving in Germany have visited there and have always enjoyed the Mosel region.

Vets and retirees in the US should, as of now, be able to drive.  It is possible to arrange bus tours, depending on group, but we are not trying to turn this into a business.

1115_400Air travel for retirees can be Space A.  As of now, disabled veterans are banned from Space A flights.  As most of you know, we have been fighting this for years and are not winning.

Frankfurt is close and the most inexpensive place to fly in.  The drive is easy.

As of now, contact me by email.  I know we have thousands of vets who served in Germany who would like to visit but can’t afford the currency difference or don’t have contacts there anymore.  More vets who have never been to Europe want to go and may be able to afford it but have nobody there to help them.  We can fix that part.

We are ready to work with all European commands to offer outstanding recreation opportunities for those stationed there.

Let me know…
