John McCain, Lindsey Graham Take a Stand at The Citadel – Politics Daily

Now here is an interesting article from an interesting blog that is usually accessed from AOL News

John McCain and Lindsey Graham just spoke at the Citadel, the legendary military college of South Carolina.  The crowd was raucous and not always respectful…and these are two Republicans in the Republican heartland!

I thought you would be interested in just how hardball politics can get.  When a crowd has elements within it that beat up on two home team heroes, you know things are a bit nuts in the political life of the country!

When I read stuff like this I often think to myself how different parts of the country view their need for "government" so totally differently.  If there was no government, New York City would be pure anarchy.  There would be blood and death everywhere.

Yet, in a more rural or conservative setting like South Carolina, government is seen as somehow being unnecessary.  I have always marvelled at that.

You have to hand it to these guys though, neither McCain or Graham played to the crowd all that much if this reporting is accurate.  They were themselves.  You have to take your hat off to any politician in this day and age that resists the allure of the 15 second sound bite and actually acts like himself.  That is no small feat.

I just find it oddly funny that two conservative heroes would have people getting irritated with them at a conservative rally on holy ground, the Citadel.  I think I would have liked to have been there.  It would have been quite interesting to feel the energy, hear the comments and watch the faces in the crowd.

I was surprised that the reporter noted that not everyone in the crowd seemed to support the Asian wars.  Hmmmm!

Now that, I find very interesting indeed.
