Secretary of Defense Gates Does Not Support War With Iran – W.P.

In a late edition of the online Washington Post, Secretary of Defense Gates goes on record as being against war with Iran.The story is here.

A new sense of reason seems to be breaking out all over Washington D.C.  I am not sure that I can handle this.  My head is spinning…I am feeling dizzy…I need to rest a minute……I am laying down for a minute or two……There, I am back now.

What is going on?  Why all the level headed reasoning all of a sudden?  Why aren’t the Marines on their way to Tehran already?  Why have we not dropped American Ranger battalions into Iran today to cause as much death and destruction as we possibly can? What is happening here? Why is the Reich Wing not screaming for more bloodshed to "protect the American way of life" and "defend our interests in the Middle East"?  Why isn’t Iran under threat of imminent American attack?

I just don’t understand.

Now, why did Afghanistan and Iraq and now Pakistan have to be handled so rashly?  Why did we not show this restraint from the Offense Department that Gates was running then as well as now when we started the previous two senseless wars?

Has Gates recently had a "come to Jesus" moment?  Why am I questioning his on-air humility?  Why am I so cynical?  What has changed this man’s judgment relative to this major crisis in Iran that makes his behavior markedly different for the other three crisis I noted above?  Why is he so open to non-combat interventions in this particular case?  Have we finally educated the Secretary of Defense to the cold realities of waging a war for rich people using working class people’s kids? 

What a crock of crap!

It is now sinking into the dense heads in D.C. in both political parties and at the Pentagon in Arlington that they have erred greatly in judging the American people’s willingness to sacrifice hometown kids, many of whom drill at the local National Guard armory, in a series of senseless wars in western Asia. 

This would be so that American oil and gas conglomerates and American war industries can make a financial killing for a selected few super wealthy Americans and their sycophant followers and hangers-on.  This whole change of heart makes me sick.

We sacrificed those kids so that a few thousand people could make millions and millions of dollars.  We killed those kids and had them kill others so that the American super elites could earn more money than even God could possibly ever use.

My God, and now the Secretary of Defense, the same guy who presided over the Offense Department in the last two debacles has had a change of heart?

B.S.!  I am not buying it.

Sack this guy.  The whole thing stinks to high heaven.  This is typical Washington Sunday morning melodrama on the news shows for domestic consumption.  This is supposed to show us how humble these people are now that they realize that the American people no longer support their series of wars.  Americans can be very dumb, but generally, not for very long. These phonies have been found out.

I actually had a couple friends who met death over there.  Why?

There is rage out here over this hypocrisy, real rage.  It is not going to be assuaged by the Secretary of Defense playing it cool on Sunday morning television.  An accounting has to be made of his judgment.
