Gary Thomas Inge
1958 – 2009
Gary Thomas Inge died in a truck accident, at the age of 50, near Healy, Alaska, where he worked during the past two summers as an ATV tour guide. A diabetic insulin reaction is believed to be the reason his truck left the Parks Highway, at 9 AM, Tuesday morning, September 8, 2009. Now, he is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Gary was born on December 17, 1958 in Everett, Washington, to U.L. Jr. (Sonny) Inge and Adelinde (Groeneveld) Inge. He attended Liberty Christian School in Everett. Gary was involved in Little League Baseball, which his father started in Eastmont, when Gary was two years old. He attended King’s Garden High School, Edmonds, Washington, and played football, basketball, and pole-vaulted in track. After graduating in 1977 he often worked summers on his grandparent’s, Henry and Hella Groeneveld, dairy farm, near Sultan, Washington. As a young boy, he received valuable guidance from uncles and aunts; Wiard and Jean Groeneveld (also on dairy farm), Brad and Lillian (Groeneveld) Pattie, Gretel Groeneveld, Henry John Groeneveld, Bass and Joy Redd, of La Porte, Texas, where Gary acquired his first job after high school, working for Continental Airlines. He went on a summer missionary tour to Haiti with Teen Missions. Gary was a motorcycle enthusiast, and enjoyed riding with cousins and friends, which eventually led to his forming an off-road cycling club and hosting riding events in Central Washington, near Kittitas and Vantage.
Shortly before joining the Air Force Gary married school mate A. Kaye Johnson. He was stationed at Ramstein AFB, Germany, where his oldest son, Jason Davis was born. After serving in Germany, Gary was transferred to Andersen AFB, Guam, where his second son, Jerome Dean was born. After Guam, Gary was relocated to Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan during which time he and Kaye divorced. Shortly thereafter the Air Force extended Gary’s enlistment allowing him to participate in Desert Storm as a "Boomer" – refueling fighter jets from a Tanker plane.
On Oct. 5, 1990 Gary married Becky Freeman Burnett who he met in Michigan. With this marriage Gary willingly took on the role of "Papa" to 5 children who needed him. Loving them as God loves usunconditionally. Gary loved having 7 children, it allowed him to act like the kid we all knew was the real him. After nearly ten years of military service, Gary was discharged from the Air Force and returned to Washington State with Becky and the kids to be near Jason and Jerome.
Gary made everyday activities an adventure. He could turn the chore of picking corn into a treasure hunt complete with pirates or convincing everyone to cross a mossy log over a deep gully "just to be able to say you did it". The joy he took in life was contagious, making an impact on the lives of everyone he met, adults and kids alike. Church youth groups loved having Gary on outings, the babies in the nursery loved to snuggle and play with him. Members of the church Building Steering Committee valued his input and the sound board coordinator knew if Gary was on the schedule for a Sunday he would be there. Gary was a man who loved his family deeply, cared about his friends and will be missed by many.

Gary is survived by his wife, Becky Inge; mother, Adelinde (Inge) and Brad Pattie; sons, Jason (Julia) Inge, who are expecting their first son in December, Jerome Inge and Andrew "AJ" Burnett; daughters Amy Richmond, Tricia Burnett, Sarah Burnett and Tammy "Tiki" Burnett; granddaughter Morgan Richmond; grandsons, Dylan Richmond, Wyatt (Burnett) Schenkvonstauffenberg and "Baby Inge" who is soon to make an appearance; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Gary was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Roger Inge; father, U.L. "Sonny" Inge, Jr.; Grandparents, U.L. Sr. Inge, and Abilee Inge, Henry and Hella Groeneveld and granddaughter McKennzie Ann Richmond.
