 IS THE GOP TRYING PUT THE USA ON THE CANVAS?

By Gordon Duff STAFF WRITER/ Senior Editor

This week, House Minority Leader Republican Steve Boehner demanded that President Obama send thousands more troops to Afghanistan immediately with no debate.  Majority Leader, Democrat Steny Honer reminder Boehner;

"My Republican colleagues abandoned their focus on Afghanistan for seven years, seven years, and let it drift, and did not resource it properly, and did not succeed.  We were under-resourced in Iraq for at least five-and-a-half years. Where were the Republicans? They were in charge. Where were they?"

Was the "step aside" that allowed 9/11, the phony intel starting the Iraq War and the dismal failure in Afghanistan Bush incompetence or was it part of a plan to occupy Central Asia for its oil, gas and opium under the guise of a phony war, investing dead soldiers and reaping massive profits?

     In the midst of addressing the rigged election in Afghanistan and raging battles in Pakistan, the call to blindly pour tens of thousands of troops info Afghanistan to aid the tens of thousands already there for 8 years dodges a few hard questions.

  • Are the troops we are planning to send in only going to strengthen our enemy and, potentially, destroy Pakistan, our only vital ally in the region? Are there those who will profit having Pakistan destroyed and the US bogged down in a war for decades?
  • Are there powerful lobbies in Washington for oil and defense industries working hand in hand with India and Israel serving interests that betray America? Are these lobbies funding the GOP lawmakers trying to squelch honest debate on the war?
  • Was the endless war in Iran, started on a personal whim by George "W" Bush, kept going for years at the cost of 5000 dead and tens of thousands of wounded Americans because oil and defense companies run by close friends raked in billions in extremely questionable profits? Does anyone believe that without Halliburton, Blackwater and the GOP oil cartel and years of obscene profits, we would have been in Iraq in the first place?
  • Did the Bush administration purposefully ignore the war in Afghanistan to keep American troops in the region to use as a bargaining chip in gas pipeline negotiations involving our Israeli friends or are we entranced with the possibility of getting back into the drug business in Afghanistan the way we did with Iran/Contra under President Reagan?

oilwar_320Do the American people remember 1985.  President Ronald Reagan called the Taliban, "The moral equivalent of the Founding Fathers."  These are the exact same people we are fighting today.  None of them have ever attacked the United States.  Not one of the 9/11 hijackers was from Afghanistan.

How did Reagan’s "Founding Fathers" become the ‘axis of evil?"  How, exactly, did the 9/11 hijackers train in Afghanistan?  Didn’t they go to school in America?  Didn’t Americans train them, somewhat at least, to fly?  Didn’t Bush immigration officials let them stay in the country and even renew visas?  Didn’t Bush family friends in Saudi Arabia keep them in style?  Did we catch all of them or did "someone" fly them to Saudi Arabia to keep their mouths shut?

Is it possible we could have started a war simply because we knew thousands of faithful Muslims would rise up against an invader sworn to forcibly convert Muslims to Christianity at gunpoint, a continual theme during the Bush administration?

Who did this help?  Did it keep our soldiers busy with an endless supply of enemies?  Did it help take America’s focus off years of financial shenanigans, the "Reaganomics" kind, tax cuts for the rich, massive borrowing, lowered wages, jobs going overseas and endless spending on fanciful and useless defense technologies?  Even Reagan couldn’t collapse the economy, that took a special talent.

Who are the winners, the real winners, no matter whether America or its troops in the field prevail or even survive?  India wins.  Pakistan will be embroiled in a civil war, weakened, divided and isolated because of its friendship with America.

Israel will win.  They can move from country to country, buying building and, as in Georgia, playing war for profit, while hiding behind America’s skirts.  Who do you think is running everything in the gas and oil rich breakaway republics that made up much of the old Soviet Union?

Is the task at hand to destroy Pakistan, destroy Iran and occupy the entire region with a massive military force, draftees, of course, to keep the oil and opium money flowing into the multinational corporations?

duffsterAre our "masters" going to allow an American government to interfere with their plan?  Is someone going to actually ask one of those questions, the ones that were considered traitorous for so many years, questions like, "We’re in Afghanistan for what?"
