Veterans Needed for Survey

The University of Massachusetts’ Department of Anthropology is looking for veterans to participate in a survey titled “Terms of Engagement: Understanding the Words of War.”

"You are asked to take part in a research project that studies the ways that U.S. military personnel use figures of speech or catchy phrases in war.  The goal is to better understand the experiences of American soldiers who fight for their country and how they have talked or continue to talk about those experiences.  The survey will illuminate the ways that wars and words draw upon the power of America’s rich national heritage in today’s world and what they mean for a variety of military personnel who use or hear them. Rest assured that this survey does not seek opinions for/against war, nor information about particular individual’s actions.
