Why are we using the P-175 Polecat to spy on Bronze Age people?

P-175 Polecat.jpgThe Associated Press is reporting this morning that a French journalist has finally gotten a picture of a mystery drone that has been operating in Afghanistan for at least two years. It appears to be a Lockheed Martin P-175 Polecat.

The reason that this is so odd is that there does not seem to be any reason to be operating a highly sophisticated and incredibly expensive radar evading drone over an "enemy" that has no radar capability. What is going on here?

Is this yet one more aspect of this Afghanistan situation that defies logical explanation ? Are we actually doing "something else" in Afghanistan besides what we are telling the world we are doing?

I wonder what that "something" could be? Who are we attempting to evade; Bronze Age sheepherders who have never seen a Westerner yet alone a radar screen? What is going on?  What is really going on over there in Afghanistan?  Why all the high profile and very expensive equipment to take on ultra-fundamentalist Muslim mujahadeen who could be successfully overflown with a bi-plane?
