LAKEWOOD, Colo.—A charity coat drive turned up an unexpected find for a Colorado law firm.
One coat collected by the Lakewood firm included a Bronze Star medal. The medal was found by attorney Brett Buchheit, who was emptying junk wrappers and other trash from the donated coats. He felt a prick and discovered a polished, unfrayed Bronze Star, one of the highest military honors a service member can receive.
It is given for acts of bravery committed on the battlefield. The medal was wrapped in a plastic sandwich bag, with nothing engraved on it and no date. The law firm is asking area veterans’ groups for help finding the medal’s owner. The medal will be presented to a local VFW on Monday, the anniversary of Pearl Harbor.
