4th Stryker Brigade CombatThe New York Times has a story tonight entitled One U.S. Battalion’s Trials in Afghanistan concerning the efforts of the First Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, a Stryker Brigade battalion which has suffered high losses in Afghanistan. They continue to fight and do the best that they can.

Whenever I read one of  these unit profiles and accompanying combat zone stories in the media, I always try and remember that we are talking about real people here.  These are young Americans in uniform who fight and die and are often seriously injured.  We owe them the truth and so does the government.  Are they getting it?  What do you think?
