In today’s New York Times we find more information posted relative to the Iranian seizure of an Iraqi oil field in an article entitled Iraq Says Iran Occupied a Border Oil Field . Both nations are telling confusing stories that do not mesh. More to come I am sure.
In a related story concerning events in Iraq entitled G.I.’s in Iraq Hope to Heal Sacred Walls we learn about U.S. troopers rebuilding an ancient Christian monastery in northern Iraq that had been partially destroyed and damaged when U.S. forces fought Iraqi forces in a tank battle at the site in 2003. It is a fine story for Christmas time.
In other news posted in today’s Times we read U.S. Charges 3 Malians in Drug Plot in which we learn that Al Qaeda is now increasingly turning to drug trafficking to finance its madness around the world.
Having been on several drug busts myself while I served at sea in the U.S. Coast Guard I can personally vouch for the danger here. These people have no souls and the money that can be made here is so much and it can be made so quickly that all judgment leaves these people. It is truly amazing to watch the transformation in a human being when he is presented with the opportunity to make so much money so quickly. It is pure evil.
And in the Obama’s War section of the Washington Post this morning we find many articles concerning the war in Afghanistan. This section Obama’s War: Mission in Afghanistan is enlightening relative to over a dozen different issues concerning that war.
