GORDON DUFF: TRUE STORY BEHIND THE L.A. VETERANS PARK SCANDAL

HEROES vs ZEROES

For over a decade, the Los Angeles Veterans Home, or what is supposed to be a Veterans Home, has been under assault from VA bureaucrats supported by an army of armed guards and backed by local millionaires who want to block homeless veterans from using land designated for, of all things, homeless veterans.

The story is an old one, though few know of it.  There is little reported on the news, except on Veterans Day, when the obligatory “veterans 5 minutes of fame” is required to show lip service support for the troops.

The demonstrations, now years old, have become more serious, first, with surveillance teams following disabled vets as though they were terrorists and then with VA security ticketing demonstrators on public property, an illegal and unconstitutional act.

The ACLU stepped in and the VA and the wealthy homeowners they are working with got a smackdown.  Now they are running to local TV and newspapers and whining about the ACLU stepping in to defend veterans.

Conservatives loved the ACLU when it kept Rush Limbaugh out of jail.  When a veteran, especially a disabled combat vet or, worst of all, a homeless disabled combat vet looks for the help we owe him on land he has every right to according to law, those wealthy patriots that love supporting war when it makes their stocks go up get upset.

2 billion dollars of veterans land, which accidentally is in the middle of what has since become a wealthy haven for our elitist community was going to be turned into a virtual country club.  The rich had the politicians in their pockets, the VA officials eating out of their hands and the VA police working for them as armed thugs, free to violate any law.

Now things don’t look so good, things aren’t so easy.  Americans standing up for their rights, veterans, should be under ground, dead and quiet and not protesting abuse by an uncaring and unpatriotic citizenry of Brentwood.

To the citizens of Brentwood involved in the VA land grab:  GET OVER IT!
