This is the best guy we can find to lead TSA? I agree with the GOP on this one.

In today’s Washington Post we have a story entitled TSA nominee misled Congress about accessing confidential records . It shows that the White House nominee to head the Transportation Security Administration, a Mr. Erroll Southers who is a former FBI agent, illegally accessed a criminal data base about twenty years ago to gain information on his ex-wife’s new boyfriend.  Here is an excerpt.

 "Southers, a former FBI agent, has described inconsistencies in his accounts to Congress as "inadvertent" and the result of poor memory of an incident that dates back 20 years. He said in a Nov. 20 letter to key senators obtained by The Post that he had accepted full responsibility long ago for a "grave error in judgment" in accessing confidential criminal records about his then-estranged wife’s new boyfriend." 

I am sorry.  He is out as far as I am concerned.  Jim DeMint is correct in blocking the nomination.  The man is not qualified for such a position of trust.

Anyone in this nation who has ever, under any circumstances, felt the heavy hand of illegal and unethical government intrusion into their lives understands how devestating this kind of "law enforcement" can be on a personal life.  The repruccusions can last for a lifetime.

Erroll Southers is out as far as I am concerned.  He cannot be trusted in such a key position.  I am a very active Democrat in the politics of Northern Virginia.  I worked hard to get Obama placed into office and to turn this state blue in the last election.  But in this matter I agree completely with Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina (R) holding up his nomination. In this matter, the GOP is correct.  Completely.

As far as I am concerned the nomination should not proceed.
