There are seveal breaking news stories today that show that the Democrats may be in for a rough year connected to elections in 2010. The first story from the Sphere blog is entitled Losing 2 senators, 1 gov equals worries for Dems and is self explanatory. Elections may very well be tight in crucial areas of the country this year. Democrats could lose big and therefore a progressive agenda might be dead.
In a Washington Post OpEd piece by Harold Myerson entitled Without a movement, progressives can’t aid Obama’s agenda the author shows how tough it is now and will continue to be relative to supporting any agenda that President Obama puts forth for Democrats. This is simply because he does not seem to have one. All in all, the Democratic victory in the last election cycle is delivering a whole lot less than we Democrats had hoped it would. We can only hope things will change and hopefully, rather quickly.
