North American Elk. Mule DeerA group of Iraq-Afghan War veterans, some of whom I know personally, have just launched a series of web sites for booking and managing hunting and fishing trips throughout the world.  If you are an angler or hunter you would be interested in checking out these sites.  They have a solid reputation for excellence even in the short time that they have been online.  The web sites are HuntFishGuide.com and Ivory Outfitters.

Since I spend a great deal of time delving into the various insanities that infect our defense establishment and our present state of war with just everybody on the planet that looks at us crosseyed, I thought I would change pace for once and give these young combat veterans a break.  Here is their story.  Some information from a press release follows.

Jobs are still scarce and people are still holding tight to their wallets. So who starts a business among a recession? A better question is who starts a successful business during a recession? Well, who better than a group of veterans. This article is about an up and coming business that is owned and operated by a group of combat veterans many of which have multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Paul Hatcher is the owner of both Ivory Outfitters and HuntFishGuide.com . Paul grew up in the small town of Craig Colorado and joined the Air Force right after high school. He served four years in the military, earned his coveted Ranger tab, and deployed to Iraq for his first time in 2003. After seven tours in Iraq between the military and the private sector, Paul moved back to Colorado to pursue his first business, Ivory Outfitters.

Ivory Outfitters was established in 2008 during the height of the economic decline. Paul was able to secure the hunting rights for 25,000 acres of some of Colorado’s most abundant big game hunting. Capitalizing on the fact Colorado offers the worlds best elk hunting Paul was able to turn a profit his first year.

With a desire to further advertise Ivory Outfitters, Paul created HuntFishGuide.com.

He could not find a hunting and fishing directory that met his standards, so he decided to build his own. Since his decision HuntFishGuide.com has become a half million dollar website.

Understanding this wasn’t going to be the average directory, Paul didn’t want the average guy representing his website. He employed five other combat veterans each with several tours in the Middle East; two extremely close friends, and his father. A motivated team of guys for a revolutionary website.

So what is HuntFishGuide.com?

HuntFishGuide.com is the cleanest and easiest to navigate worldwide hunting and fishing directory available. Hunters and anglers can search for a guide or charter using three major categories; Region, Species, and Method of Take. Avid outdoorsmen can finally search for the adventures they want to go on based on their criteria. With side-by-side comparisons of outfitters profiles, individuals can compare guides on all levels, ranging from pricing to lodging.

Laid out much like a realtors website HuntFishGuide.com makes it easy to narrow done your search. Every angle has been covered on this site from the amazing design and color scheme to the advanced scroll down menu. This truly is a website you have to see to believe.

Hopefully this website will do for hunting and fishing what Travelocity and Orbitz has done for the travel industry. With its soon-to-come online reservation software outdoorsmen will soon be able to find, book, and pay for their dream excursion all online.

Since its launch January 1, 2010 HuntFishGuide.com has hit the ground running. The company has had meetings with several charter boat and outfitter associations, and is scheduled to attend close to a dozen major trade shows across the country in the next two months.

From one veteran to another this is a website worth checking out; http://www.huntfishguide.com.
