Are you concerned about the growing threat of homegrown terrorism? Last year four times as many homegrown jihadists were arrested than in any year since 9/11.

Would you like to learn more about how you can prepare your family and provide leadership in your community in the event of a natural or terrorism-caused disaster?

Do you still want to make a difference for your community and your country?  YOU CAN !!!

I have joined hands with Brigitte Gabriel in the launch of a new organization for veterans and their families, Veteran Defenders of America, www.veterandefenders.org.

Brigitte Gabriel is a Lebanese immigrant whose youth was shattered by Islamic terror, a story she shared with America in her best-selling book Because They Hate.

She is also the president of ACT! for America, the nation’s largest grassroots movement dedicated to combating this threat, with nearly 80,000 members and 380 local chapters.

So when Brigitte came to me and told me there were veterans who were clamoring for an organization like Veteran Defenders of America, and asked me to be Honorary Chairman, I was honored and humbled by her request. I accept and SALUTE Brigitte!

The mission of Veteran Defenders of America is “to create a nationwide volunteer network of veterans who, through education, information, training and preparedness, will serve as a key part of America’s frontline grassroots “eyes and ears of freedom” with respect to threats to our national security and our freedoms, such as the threat of radical Islam.”

I’m asking you to join with us in this worthy and important network by visiting www.veterandefenders.org.

We veterans swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and defend our nation against all threats, foreign and domestic. That oath didn’t end the day we retired from active duty.

Our talents, training and experience are valuable resources for a country straining to deal with disasters, emergencies, and the threat of homegrown terrorism. Law enforcement officials repeatedly emphasize that citizen tips and leads are essential to on-going efforts to thwart terrorism.

This is one reason why the Veteran Defenders of America motto is “The eyes and ears of freedom, because we know freedom isn’t free.”

Not only must we combat the threat of radical Islam, we must fight the political correctness that is aiding and abetting it. Sadly, that political correctness has even infected our Armed Forces.

I was astonished when the Pentagon report on the Ft. Hood massacre came out, and the only reference to anything remotely related to radical Islam was one footnote. I’m sure you followed the news as closely as I did. How could any analysis of what motivated Nidal Hasan to do what he did not include an examination of his jihadist beliefs and commitment to radical Islam?

This kind of political correctness is more than annoying or frustrating – it is dangerous and deadly to our members of the Armed Forces!

Fellow veteran, we can make our communities safer and better prepared for whatever disaster may come our way. We can effectively combat the scourge of political correctness that is undermining our ability to define and defeat our enemies. But to do so, we must do it together. We veterans know the power of training, teamwork and commitment to the mission.
Let’s put that knowledge and training to use once again, for the sake of the families we love and the country we swore to protect.
