– The headline does not comprise the framework for peace reported by the national AP and CNN in describing the Israeli stance for successful ‘direct talks for peace’ with Palestinian negotiators, but it should … –
Instead, we are treated to this:
Mr. Netanyahu said a future Palestinian state would have to be demilitarised, recognise Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people and respect Israel’s vital security interests. Some of his demands have already been rejected by the Palestinians.
No one—outside of true American believers like Sarah Palin and John McCain, for example—seriously believes that these conditions voiced by Netanyahu are anything but the continuing rejectionist stance by Israel to disrupt any chance at peace in the region.
The peace talks are a farce and so are recognized by the world community outside of the circles of talking heads and the squawkers of American corporate media who parrot the Zionist line.
Netanyahu would ask the Palestinian people:
To accept the theft of land by Zionist mobs in 1947-48
Accept the tenets of the fundamentalist Jewish faith held by some of world Jewry vis a vis Israel
Abdicate the Palestinian right of self-defense from the outlaw state of Israel
These are the goals of militaristic, bigoted Zionist propaganda that are demanded to be taken seriously.
Sort of a play on George W. Bush’s ultimatum to the world when he declared the war on terror saying: Either with us or against us.
Or one can look to the Christian Zionists of the American religious right: Either accept our religion and be saved in Christ or face an eternity … , well, lets be brief [fundies are so ponderous and long-winded] : Accept our beliefs or go to hell.
The Palestinian response should be swift and sure, some sort of imprecation would be appropriate like: Hey Israel, right here with your pre-conditions.
Which is more or less what is happening:
Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said Mr. Netanyahu’s comments were ‘dictation, not negotiation.’
‘If he wants negotiations, he knows that these conditions won’t stand,’ Mr. Erekat said.
A fair wager is that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will not ridicule Netanyahu though if ever a man so called out to be ridiculed it would be Netanyahu and his despicable sabotaging of the quest for peace and justice in the region that the world community wants but will not demand.
So human beings continue to die in the West Bank and Gaza as the Israeli oppression goes on.
