Few Americans are aware that only six percent of U.S. citizens have served in the Armed Forces

From the VA:

With the help of the White House and VA, HISTORY (the History cable channel) encourages the remaining 94 percent to say thank you to the brave men and women who have sacrificed to protect our country as Veterans Day approaches. HISTORY has enlisted the First Lady and Dr. Biden to tape a public service announcement it will run in conjunction with Veterans Day and has joined forces with the VA to encourage companies and organizations to salute Veterans in the workplace this fall through the “Thank a Veteran at Work” program. VA program offices and facilities are encouraged to spread the word about the “Thank a Veteran at Work” campaign to businesses, Veterans organizations and government agencies they work with.

A “Thank a Veteran at Work” guide and poster are available on line at http://www.history.com/topics/take-a-vet#a1 and “Thank a Veteran” stickers can be ordered free at [email protected]. Additional Veterans Day posters and materials for teachers and students, including a new Veterans Day video, are available on the VA Veterans Day Web page at http://www1.va.gov/opa/vetsday/.
