WASHINGTON – Implementing the Post-9/11 GI Bill is a major priority for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and continued improvements to the bill have been and remain an imperative for VA and the Administration.  VA strongly supports the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Improvements Act of 2010 due to its many positive provisions.  These provisions include greater opportunities for on-the-job and vocational training as well as a simplified and more equitable program for Veterans.

Expanding eligibility of the Post-9/11 GI Bill will provide significant opportunities to many Servicemembers, Veterans and family members who will join the more than 300,000 students pursuing higher education on the Post-9/11 GI Bill today and the more than 600,000 attending on all GI Bills combined.  VA looks forward to implementing this new legislation that will promote and sustain the Nation’s future generation of leaders in government, commerce and private industry.

On behalf of Veterans and the many who serve them at VA, we would like to thank the President for his support, as well as Members of Congress and our Veteran Service Organization partners for helping make this bill become a reality.
