GOP Eliminates $75 Million for Homeless Veterans

Will the GOP ever understand that when it comes to veterans, they cannot pay the price for their service depending on who is in charge or which way the wind blows? They served this country in good financial times as well as bad times. They get hurt, by body or mind, because the elected at the time decided to send them to war. Some of them signed up because we were at war while others signed up in case we had to go to war. What they need should never, ever be fair game in budget battles.

Behind The Arab Revolt is a Word We Dare NOT Speak

Shortly after the invasion of Iraq in 2003, I interviewed Ray McGovern, one of an elite group of CIA officers who prepared the President’s daily intelligence brief. McGovern was at the apex of the “national security” monolith that is American power and had retired with presidential plaudits. Here in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, we had the International Peace Pow-Wow this weekend (February 26th and 27th). The indigenous peoples in Canada whilst being denied full economic and legal equality, do at least enjoy certain cultural freedoms which they took full advantage of this weekend in Lethbridge. The events at the Pow-Wow stand in stark contrast to the apartheid-like policies implemented against the indigenous peoples of Palestine by the unlawful Israeli government.

ALBANY -- Disabled Army veteran Susan Frasier rides an overnight Greyhound bus alone each month to Washington, D.C., to walk the halls of Congress in search of elected officials who will support her where the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and federal courts have not.

Agent Orange effects linger in Vietnam

The Vietnam War is a sore spot in the memories of many American citizens. From 1955 to 1975, the United States found itself entrenched in a war of unrecognizable proportions. Due to the unprecedented tactical disadvantages faced by American soldiers, action had to be taken to level the playing field, ultimately crippling the guerrilla warfare tactics held by members of the Vietnamese military. The solution? Agent Orange, an herbicidal chemical extensively used to eradicate jungle flora throughout the Vietnamese countryside. Often used at levels upwards of 50 times the recommended usage, Agent Orange decimated fields and jungles alike.
