American Medical ID Works with VA Organizations Across Nation

HOUSTON, TX   – VA Directive states: “It is VHA policy that ID bracelets and pendants must be available, upon appropriate request by the Department of Veterans Affairs clinicians through Prosthetics Service, for veteran patients whose pertinent medical information would be valuable to emergency medical care providers.”

Medical IDs save lives by communicating medical information to emergency responders.

Medical IDs are indicated for those with diabetes, food or drugs allergies, seizure disorder, heart conditions, blood thinner prescriptions, multiple medications, metal fragments in the body and many other medical conditions. It is important in an emergency that this information is available. Knowing this information allows emergency medical responders to quickly provide the right life-saving treatment.

American Medical ID is currently working with VA organizations across the nation as a registered supplier of customized medical IDs. We are working to help VA organizations with process and ordering procedures.

“The VHA is the single largest health care system in the world. It is wonderful that they are recognizing medical IDs as an important part of living with chronic medical conditions. We are working to ensure that all veterans whose conditions merit a medical ID, will receive one at no cost to them,” said Rick Russell, CEO and president of American Medical ID.
