Since buying Giammatteo’s first book “Murder Takes Time: Friendship & Honor Series, Book One (Volume 1)“, he has quickly risen to become one of my favorite authors. I am always on the lookout for his books.
When I learned of this new book i thought it was a mistake. What could a writer of mystery/suspense/crime novels possibly know about resume writing? I purchased the book because his other books were so good and I was curious. Once again, Giammatteo did not disappoint me!
I have worked in human resources for more than 25 years. I have read numerous books on resume writing (more than I can count), I have participated in dozens of resume writing workshops, I have reviewed thousands of candidate resumes (and trashed many), and I have even taught employees the correct way of writing their résumé…..or so I thought.
I use the words “I thought” because what I learned in the past cannot compare to the excellent advice given throughout this book!
Giammatteo explains what is most important to include on your resume, he provides examples, and he is one of the only authors that emphasizes how critical it is to write a good cover letter.
I have summarized this book in three points but trust me, this book is loaded with useful information. As an added bonus, the author writes this book in his usual style: easy to read, humor, and a wealth of knowledge. For those of you that dont know it, Giammatteo is also an Executive Headhunter and has years of experience in this area.
Bottom line… EVERYONE should have an updated resume at all times. So, whether you are looking for a job now or later, do yourself a favor and buy this book. You won’t be disappointed!
I have an updated resume but i plan on redoing it using what I learned in this book and will also use this book as a teaching aide in my work.
One final note, Giammatteo also offers tips on his web site (see back pages in book) – use them and you can’t go wrong! I hope there will be more in this series of books!
