Spare a Thought for Millionaires

Who wants to be a millionaire? Actually, not many. Wait. What? No one wants to be a millionaire? What about that show with Chris Tarrant? Those questions the contestants answer? Gone – Tarrant says it’s time to move on, and he’s right.
Most people need to be a multi-millionaire or even a billionaire today. An ageing population means that more Britons will be taking care of their parents, and more people will need long-term care insurance themselves as they get older.
At the same time, the cost of living on goods and services today is rising sharply. You’ve felt it at the petrol station. Price inflation ruins everyone’s fun and, at the same time, makes people feel poor.
That’s why yesterday’s millionaires are today’s impoverished. Even when a growing number of individuals have assets worth a million pounds, it never seems like it’s enough. Everything from Mini Coopers to home prices and even a pint of beer has gone up. It seems strange, doesn’t it? We never used to think having a million pounds would never be enough. Even today, a million sorta sounds like a lot until you stop to think what it will actually buy. Then, you realise just how little you have.
