Whether it’s a DUI, an assault, or even a murder mystery, the world is always watching and celebs are powerless when it comes to keeping their illegal shenanigans a secret. 1. Amanda Bynes
Good girls gone bad seems to be one the most common narratives for Hollywood celebs. You have your normal offenders like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, whose antics are less than shocking, and somewhat expected to be completely honest. But then you have the stars who you’d never expect to fall off the good girl wagon. Case in point—Amanda Bynes. Up until her public journey to crazytown, Bynes was always seen as the quirky and lovable girl next door, and she did a pretty good job of keeping her private life out of the Hollywood spotlight.
Unfortunately, her image took a serious hit when she was arrested in May for reckless endangerment after she tossed a bong through the window of her 36th floor NYC apartment. If that wasn’t bad enough, Bynes’ erratic behavior made headlines again when she randomly stripped down and started a fire in a stranger’s driveway. She was then taken straight to the looney bin on 5150 psychiatric hold.
2. Ian Watkins
We never imagined that LostProphetsfrontman, Ian Watkins, would be a heinous sexual predator. In fact, that’s probably the absolute last thing anyone would ever expect from a successful musician like Watkins, but it turns out, that’s exactly what he is. In perhaps one of the most shocking celeb arrests of this year, Watkins pleaded guilty to multiple child sexual assault charges including two counts of attempting to rape a baby.
3. Emma Roberts
Emma Roberts may come from an uber-famous family (her Aunt is Julia Roberts!), but that didn’t stop the young actress from venturing to the dark side. Honestly, Roberts seems so pure and innocent; we never thought she’d get busted for behaving badly, but we were wrong. The actress was arrested on July 7th for domestic violence (seriously) after police were called to a hotel room where she and her boyfriend, Evan Peters, were staying. Officers arrived and found Peters with a bloody nose and bite marks on his body. Roberts was taken straight to the slammer, but apparently her boyfriend had a change of heart and decided not to press charges, so she was released the next day.
4. Reese Witherspoon
In the beginning of 2013, if you asked someone to predict which Hollywood starlets would get arrested, I highly doubt anyone would say Reese Witherspoon. I mean, come on, she’s like, Hollywood’s golden girl! Or at least she was until her bizarre and highly publicized (drunken) arrest back in April. The actress was in the car with her husband, Jim Toth, when he was pulled over and busted for DUI.
Witherspoon could have kept quiet and let the officers do their job, but she decided to cause a scene. A video of the arrest was leaked, and you can clearly hear her yelling at officers, “Do you know my name? You’re about to find out who I am . . . you’re going to be on national news.” The now-infamous ordeal landed her in handcuffs and she was booked on charges of disorderly conduct.
