Uncle Sanchez from New York is Racist

On April 15, 2014, the New York Times published an article entitled “New York Drops Unit That Spied on Muslims,” written by Matt Apuzzo and Joseph Goldstein. “The New York Police Department has abandoned a secretive program that dispatched plainclothes detectives into Muslim neighborhoods to eavesdrop on conversations and built detailed files on where people ate, prayed and shopped,” the authors claimed.

Filled with names of officials and agencies of the USA Government, there is no doubt that their claims are truth.

The squad is known as the Demographics Unit. It violates the rule of law by assuming that everybody is guilty unless proven otherwise. After assuming that, they engage in entrapping. Surveillance is entrapment; everybody having became a victim of it can testify of systemic evil insinuations and provocative ideas used by the agents of institutional terror.

“But we cannot work otherwise!” The agents of terror invariably justify their crimes. Let’s cut it short. Terrorizing others is not a job, it is a crime. Laws sanctioning that are illegitimate. Agencies enforcing them are illegitimate.

Reading the article with interest, I found that today was Racists Hunting Day.

Uncle Sanchez did what?

Hidden in the middle of the long article was an interesting remark. “The Demographics Unit was the brainchild of the Central Intelligence Agency officer Lawrence Sanchez, who helped establish it in 2003 while working at the Police Department and while he was still on the spy agency’s payroll.”

Since the USA Government engages in racial profiling, I must assume that everybody can do that. Let’s profile the profilers.

“Lawrence” is an Anglo-Saxon name, while “Sanchez” is a Spanish one. Considering everything and knowing nothing about the man, please allow me to profile him as a son of Mexican immigrants. Maybe I am wrong and he is heir to Guatemalan banana moguls. I apologize for any unintentional error, that is what happens when people engage in profiling.

Racism: A Short History

This is very interesting. Spanish speaking societies in the Americas are offsprings of the Spanish Empire and they have a very bad record.

In UN reports on civilian violence they invariably are near the top. Their records on human rights are disastrous. Peru violations shame the entire humanity; the countries that raped their citizens under the CIA’s Condor Plan, essentially southern South America Spanish speakers and Brazil, have lost their right to declare themselves legitimate. Argentina’s military junta was proven to kill women for the sake of giving their newly born children for adoption to families close to the military.

With no exception, all Spanish-speaking societies I have seen were violent in extreme, with people showing bad manners and systematic violence towards others; frustrated conquistadores trying to rob visitors. I apologize for any generalization, that is what happens when people engage in profiling.

In contrast, all Muslim societies that I have seen are welcoming and polite. A guest is protected because that is what civilized people do.

In New York, Uncle Sanchez attacked Muslims, apparently in a sad attempt to redeem Latinos from their own profiling. I apologize for any generalization, that is what happens when people engage in profiling.

al-Spanish

Spanish speakers hate being reminded the sources of their language. It was created by the collision of a culture speaking a Romance language (Spoken-Latin, Latin for market-dwellers) with Arabic.

Thousands of Spanish words are Arabic in their core. The most obvious ones are those including the Arabic article. Practically all Spanish words starting with “al” are of Arabic origin. “al-Mahsan” (the storehouse) became in Spanish “almacen,” which refers to a grocery shop.

Emirate of Cordova 900AD

I mentioned that several times while teaching Hebrew at an academic establishment in Bolivia. The students even refused to accept that the “Emirate of Cordova” had existed. There was no point to tell them it was the Golden Age of the Iberian Peninsula,⁺ just before the Kingdom of Spain became a worldwide pirate.

Spanish speakers hate being reminded that their language is an awry offspring of the more advanced culture that taught them most of what they know.

Racial Profiling

Racial profiling is not only wrong, it does not work. Ashamed Israelis discovered that in January 2013, when a kosher Jewess was detained in the Ben Gurion Airport due to the color of her skin and several physical characteristics. Rebecca was born in the USA to a Jewish mother and an Afro-American father. She was adopted through a Jewish adoption agency and grew up in a Jewish family, despite her poor Hebrew. Even by the strictest interpretations, she is Jewish.

Racism: A Short History

Yet, she was practically raped by the police, which refused to believe her after she failed to answer a tricky question about Passover.

She said that after being requested to undress, “the checkers pushed hands in a very intimate fashion without saying anything. One of them continued touching in a very unpleasant way. I started to cry and said that I didn’t want to travel.” Yet, they didn’t stop. This is called “violation,” and in certain places could lead to charges of raping.

Rebecca, an art teacher, was released, not before all the clothes on her body were confiscated. She was asked to use a different set from her suitcase. Even after her return to the USA, her clothes were not released, apparently due to fear that they would be used to prove Rebbeca’s rape by the state.

What Western authorities present as “investigation techniques” is nothing but character assassination^* of everybody perceived as different. This is racism, because the actions based on that perception create the difference. Muslim citizens of New York cannot ignore the institutional terror they face daily. Every person they meet on the street may be a plainclothes agent of institutional terror in an entrapment attack.

Uncle Sanchez from New York preaches exactly the same as the Israeli racist authorities. “I am good, those like me are probably good, others are evil.”

Lawrence Sanchez, proud heir to Uncle Sam’s imperial racism, and soon to become Tio Sanchez in a bilingual empire, you are a racist.

In Our Streets there is Something Special

While preparing yesterday’s article I used a reference to Hebrew pop. While searching for the words of the song I found another one which I had not listened to in about twenty years.

It was not because I am far away in an imposed exile and it was difficult to access. It was because after listening to it for the first time I was so scared that I stopped listening to Mashina, the band that composed the horror.

“In Our Streets there is Something Special” is the name of the tune, which is repeated several times in the song. It describes part of the surveillance apparatus mentioned in The Cross of Bethlehem: The Memoirs of a Refugee. “You want to die” is another troubling line.

Now we know that the song was wrong. There is nothing special in the streets of Tel Aviv; New York enforces the same crimes. Life is freedom; surveillance denies freedom. “You want to die” the poet summarized the horror.

⁺ Muslim Spain was one of the few periods in history in which Christians, Jews, and Muslims lived together in peace, creating an awesome cultural and scientific output.
Rabbi Yeudah Halevi was a Jewish scholar at the time. One of his better known poems is titled “My Heart is in the East” by Yehuda Halevi. The first line reads: “Libi Bamizrach Va’ani Besof Ma’arav,” which means “My heart is in the East and I’m in West’s end.” He was in Spain at the time and was writing about Jerusalem.
