Curing common IT headaches with cloud computing

The increasing influence of IT on businesses has brought with it a catalogue of benefits, enabling companies to grow and prosper in spite of difficult market conditions. But IT is not without its foibles and headaches, many of which have prohibited companies from achieving the goals that they were promised would be attainable by providers.
To this end cloud computing is trumpeted as delivering cost saving capabilities that are simply impossible to access in a traditional IT environment. But what are these cures for common IT headaches and are affordable cloud platforms really as efficient as some claim?

Prevent Resource Waste
In a new survey of 250 IT decision-makers it was found that the majority of businesses which rely on in-house storage are lumbered with at least half of their capacity being taken up by inactive data, according to Cloud Computing News.
This means that multiple petabytes of information is being housed on hardware that is having an adverse effect on IT budgets, consuming energy, floor space and staff time. And with inactive data being defined as any information which lies dormant for two months or more, it is easy to see why this might be a financial drain.
Analysts argue that it is much more cost-effective to take advantage of cloud managed services, like those available from www.zooce.com, in order to store data, improving efficiency while still giving businesses a resilient backup of critical information that can be quickly restored when recovering from a disaster; network support company.
Leverage Modern Apps
The rise of software as a service (SaaS) has helped the cloud gain the solid foothold in the IT market that it now enjoys. And there is still growth to be gleaned in this area, as evidenced by a recent report from North Bridge Venture Partners.
72 per cent of the respondents to the study revealed that they are deploying some form of cloud app today, compared to just 13 per cent in 2011. And this is because of the ease with which the cloud allows companies to leverage these modern software solutions.
Rather than having to pay to license software for individual users, then taking the time to install it on individual devices and keep it up to date over time on the company’s dime, SaaS alleviates these costly concerns and makes it possible to run any app imaginable in a browser-based, platform agnostic environment.
This ties in well with the increasingly mobile nature of the modern workforce, with BYOD (bring your own device) culture putting businesses in the position of requiring an inexpensive way to both promote remote working while still managing access to apps and data effectively.
With the help of a responsible and reliable provider, any business should be able to overcome common IT headaches and make an affordable transition to the cloud, so long as the process of planning the migration is taken seriously and all the options are weighed equally.
