Social security disability claims can be processed faster by completing all of the necessary paperwork and responding to social security requests quickly. Most delays occur because individuals must wait for an ALJ hearing. The average waiting time for a hearing varies in different regions. Although proper preparation speeds up processing time, there are also other procedures that are worth implementing. If you need law advice, contact the Law Offices of Russell J. Goldsmith.

Request an OTR Decision
If you submit paperwork that proves that you are disabled, you can request an OTR decision instead of waiting for a hearing. The decision will be made by an administrative judge if your file has evidence that proves that you are disabled. In addition, a testimony will not be needed from you or a vocational expert. The decision lets you skip the ALJ hearing and any delays.
You can contact the nearest Office of Disability Adjudication and Review office to request an ODAR review. However, wait until you have appealed a denial and asked for a hearing. The ODAR will deny the request or grant the request after it is reviewed, or the ODAR will ask for more information from you or your attorney. The ALJ will provide a written decision that approves your application if the ODAR grants your request. If denied, your application will be sent to the ALJ hearing.
Request an Attorney Advisor Decision
Getting an early decision from a lawyer who is employed by Social Security can also help you avoid an ALJ hearing. Decisions by attorney advisors are given to claimants who can prove that a mistake was made by the Social Security office. The advisors must have evidence to support the claims.
After requesting a hearing, contact the local ODAR office to request an advisor decision. The advisor will request addition evidence or will schedule a conference with you get more information.
You will get a fully favorable option from the attorney advisor if you are successful. The advisor will give you benefits back on the date when your application was claimed.
Compassionate Allowance List
If you meet SSDI or SSI qualifications or you have a serious illness, you could get benefits much quicker. Social Security has a list of nearly 200 conditions; if you provide medical evident that you have one of the illnesses, Social Security will process your claim in a few days or weeks.
Terminal Illnesses
You can also get your benefits faster if you have a terminal illness. In addition, you must meet every non-medical SSDI or SSI qualification.
