You have seen the ads on TV and have the buzz about Fantasy Football. You like playing at NFL.com or Yahoo or ESPN. Cool! But are you legally winning money every week?
If not, check out what the folks at FanDuel.com are doing right now and how you can make money every week!
First, building your FanDuel teams by picking your favorite players is usually a sucker bet. Learn how you can take your game to the next level by learning how to play according to the scoring system instead of your personal favorites – you might event find some new favorite players.
I’ve been playing fantasy football for years and I’ve seen it happen time and time again. When the time comes to draft teams, guys in my league or opponents in a head to head game succumb to their “fandom” when picking their team. Instead of making picks based on cold analysis of the stats that carry the highest reward in the game, we’re playing, they pick their favorite players. There is a word for these guys – in most cases, they are called “losers” and we all look forward to our matchups with them.
This is bad enough in full season fantasy sports where you can lose a limited amount of money for the full season. If you are playing FanDuel instant fantasy sports, with daily games or multiple games a day, this can be financially disastrous. Here are some tips on how to avoid this pitfall and increase your chances of winning some nice bucks playing FanDuel (and any other fantasy game you might play.)
1. Know the scoring system of the game you’re playing. You need to know which stats play into scoring and pick your teams accordingly.
2. Know the game conditions – snow, rain, hurricane? It can change the game prospects for scoring.
3. Play the match ups – there are some teams out there that are better than others. And so if a team is not scoring much, take a look at the defense that is matched up against them. They may not be the # 1 in the league but can be purchased for a bargain price freeing up cap money to buy up a Julio Jones or a Calvin Johnson for your offense players.
4. In all decisions, let the stats decide your course of action. While it might sound like fun to attach your success to your favorite team or player, it’s a lot more fun to win real money because you made your decision based on the numbers – after all, your opponent likely is.
