Fibreglass reinforced plastic or mostly known as FRP is a popular material not only in the industrial sector, but also in the automobile industry. This material is used in a variety of applications, starting from the tennis rackets to body panels of cars and various industrial sections. The only reason behind such popularity in the market is its low maintenance, rust resistance and its ability to get molded in a huge variety of shapes.

The material was used in the industry from a very long time, but it was widely used in the “Second World War” period.

FRP Composites-A brief:

You cannot say that every plastic is a composite; rather most plastic elements that you come across daily are not composites. They are purely plastic like soda bottles and plastic toys. When you need something more than a plastic that has huge strength and various other unique factors, reinforce the plastic. Combining a plastic with reinforcing fibers can produce some of the strongest materials like the one you presently have FRP.

These materials can be used for the manufacture of various constructional and industrial sections like fibreglass cable ladders and many more.

Combination of the FRP material:

FRP is a combination of plastic or polymer matrix either a thermoset resin or a thermoplastic like phenolic, epoxy, vinyl ester, isopolyester, etc. and an agent for reinforcing like aramid, carbon, glass or any other material for reinforcing.

This product has various exclusive features:

Light weight:

FRP is a lightweight material, but this does not mean that it is not strong enough. This material is highly strong and thus, can undertake huge pressure and weight of heavy machines. This is one of the major reason for which, most industries look for structural sections made of FRP.

Apart from this, its low weight quality has helped many manufacturers carry it very easily from one place to another. Some of them do not charge anything extra from their suppliers for installing them.

Low maintenance:

Just because it is highly robust and also very light weight in nature, FRP hardly requires any extra maintenance. You leave the FRP made structures like fibreglass bolts in the open air for numerous days and nights and even in extreme climatic condition; it will not change its structure or chemical composition. But if you look at the conventional material, they lack in this feature like steel will rust over time and wood will become fluffy by absorbing water.

Corrosion resistant:

Apart from all the other feature, the most amazing and interesting features about FRP is that it is highly resistant to corrosion. You leave it with various detrimental and corrosive chemicals; it will not get eroded and damaged, promising you a very long durability.

These are some of the most common features of fibreglass materials. Apart from these, there are various other materials that people can get by installing structural sections made up of FRP.
