Jerry Stanislowsky, who served in the Marine Corp., was one of hundreds looking for a job at the Hire our Heroes fair in Latham Monday.
“I spent a year over in Vietnam. I’ve just wanted to work with veterans,” said Stanislowsky. “This is the fifth event we have had in the Capital Region,” said New York National Guard Commander Major General Pat Murphy.
From the military to the public sector and high skilled jobs, the goal was to have a job that fits everyone. “I talked to Catholic Charities, that’s a possibility. I talked to the department of labor, they referred me to a site, and I just got done talking to Excelsior College,” said Stanislowsky.
At this job fair alone there are 350 jobs available, and it’s not just for veterans. It’s for retired, active duty and even their families. “If we have a soldier or an airmen, then we have a family that is backing them up some way,” said Murphy.
