Advocates for veterans and MGM Springfield officials agreed Friday that collaboration is key to ensure that veterans are aided in obtaining and keeping casino jobs.
During a meeting at City Hall, some members of area veterans groups said that while MGM has set goals for hiring veterans, the outreach efforts were not visible for the most part since the casino was approved by voters.
MGM officials said the commitment is there, and will be done in collaboration with the veterans groups.
“As a company, MGM Resorts has had targeted workforce development opportunities and targeted outreach (for veterans), and we will plan to do that same thing in Springfield,” said Kelley Tucky, MGM’s vice-president of community and public affairs.
