Company efforts get veterans into roles

The transition from serving active military duty to assimilating back into the civilian workforce is different for everyone. Many businesses have programs in place to help veterans adapt to company culture and civilian life.
CB&I, a multinational engineering, procurement and construction company that specializes in projects for oil and gas companies, is a military-friendly business and supporter of soldiers, veterans and their spouses.
“Our military staffing and recruiting team’s goal is to assist veterans with locating good positions within CB&I and prepare them for a seamless transition from their military career to a civilian career within our company. We utilize the O-Net Internet Link Military Skills Translation tool to help soldier candidates find positions that best fit their background and experience. CB&I also offers quality, comprehensive craft training, which is fundamental to the development of a skilled workforce,” said Thomas R. Anderson, vice president of staffing and recruiting at CB&I.
“We’ve also developed a new training program in partnership with two community and technical colleges in Louisiana – Baton Rouge Community College in Baton Rouge and SOWELA Technical Community College in Lake Charles. Our military veterans program manager is also working with the Army and Navy to develop craft training partnership programs on, or near military installations.”
