A Travesty in Cleveland

This was 2012, a car is said to have possibly backfired, or someone thinks someone may have said they might have heard a car backfire somewhere so Cleveland police fired nearly 150 bullets into an unarmed couple illegally chased and stopped.  The reason the police were found not guilty is that a judge believed, and perhaps rightly so, that a terrified police officer, who cried continually during questioning, is perfectly reasonable in shooting or perhaps kicking to death, anyone he can get his hands on when he is having an emotional “moment.”

This is very much a “black/white” thing.  Cleveland is a nasty town, run by organized crime, quite a violent place, endlessly worse than Detroit.  This weekend Detroit is having an Electronic Music Festival.  Some of my kids, a bit grown up as it were, are going.  This is downtown Detroit.  You can safely walk around downtown Detroit at night, not everywhere but most places.  You can’t do that in Cleveland.

Cleveland is a sick city, yes, Cleveland’s African American community must take a huge responsibility there but it goes further.  Cleveland is corrupt, unimaginably so, since the days Elliot Ness was brought in as Chief of Police.

The racial aspect is clear as day, if you are white, you are not going to be chased or shot at.  If you are a “white kid” playing with a toy gun, police will not show up and shoot you like a dog.  One thing we have to be clear about, just because a nut case calls 9/11 because they think they heard something, it isn’t an excuse for suspension of not only all human rights but sanity as well.

Under the GOP, anyone, anywhere can be detained and now shot or kicked to death just because they are within 20 miles of a possible crime or misreported imaginary incident called in anonymously by a meth addict who has just been listening to Alex Jones.

I have a pet peeve, gun carry laws.  Here in Ohio, we are an “open carry” state.  Concealed carry laws are fairly insane, where you can and can’t carry a gun and huge penalties if someone sees your gun and can ID it to police.  Legally you can carry a decent and safe weapon in a holster without a permit, that has always been legal.

Just try it.  Remember the 12 year old killed for carrying a toy?  A week after he died, he was indicted for “brandishing” and some sort of “scaring the public by playing outside with a toy gun” charge.  Well, in Ohio you can be arrested and even convicted if you are legally carrying a weapon and a crazy person doesn’t like it and gets afraid.

If that person is a cop, they can shoot you 141 times, cry like a pissy little baby and a judge will let them go to do it again.  Do you wonder why police are shot and more and more will be shot, you can bet on that.

Two weeks ago, Obama ordered restrictions on military equipment police can use, no more tanks, grenade launchers, RPG’s and barrel bombs, we aren’t kidding, they have been used, think “Philadelphia.”

In Ohio, 800,000 people (according to a local law enforcement official) have weapons carry permits.  This is the truth of it, there are fewer illegal shootings by this 800,000 legally armed “militia” than by the police.  Do we really need armed police?

What we don’t have is any clear cut need for police being armed at all.  At VT, we buy used police weapons, Sig and Glock, on a regular basis for legal resale as a licensed dealer.  Our last shipment was Glock .45 pistols, high powered, high capacity and unusually powerful, meant to kill in one shot.

Even the US military uses .223 weapons, designed to wound, not kill and 9mm pistols.  (Special Operations use 10mm and .45)  It is one thing for police to use combat oriented weapons and quite another when they prove themselves totally and absolutely incapable of handing this responsibility as well as the average citizen.

Truth is, the average citizen seems to know the law better, is much harder to terrify  and is far more capable of protecting themselves without endangering the pubic than police.

Frankly it is too late for police.  They have watched too much television, have too much Israeli training, murdering kids is legal there, considered a sport, and too little education about things like human rights and due process.

Time to “reset,” get away from the “police state,” time to close prisons, get drugs off the street, put there by the CIA and police, let’s get that one straight, and clean up our country.  If local government in much of the US is utterly corrupt, controlled by cartels, by banksters or criminal gangs, and this is the case across most of the country, then the police are every bit a part of that.

Let’s pretend this:  That the majority of police, as “individuals,” are decent people.  Then why, as the “blue gang,” do they act like the criminals we pay hundreds of billions a year for them to protect us from?

During the “occupy” protests in New York, local police hired out to banks to gas, pepper spray, beat and illegally arrest protesters.  In reality, of course, they had always been working for the banks, that’s what police do.  This is why police exist.  They are here to protect them from us, the people, and nothing else.

If random acts of decency manage to claw their way to the surface, thank decent people who sacrifice their sanity to be police and work among the corrupt and useless.
