With sweat and muscle, 28 volunteers put it all on the line Saturday for America’s military veterans.

Volunteers from suburban moms to Michigan State Troopers took part the the area’s first Pushups for Charity event, held Saturday morning at EverFit Training Studio in Green Oak Township.

“To have this many people show up really touches my heart,” said EverFit proprietor Beth Rzendzian who organized the event.

Requiring participants to complete as many push-ups as they could in 90 second sets, the event was billed as a fitness challenge – and it more than lived up to that.

It left most of the (very fit) participants red faced and breathing heavily once they were done.

“It was a challenge, but I’m up for a challenge,” said Andrea Ferrera of Brighton, whose sons Marco, 7, and Nick, 4, watched as she worked through her set.
