In a recent article Decades of defiance:Owner of Jerusalem’s oldest sweets shop stands his ground in Old City by Nadezhda Kevorkova, she writes:
“We froze our bank account in April 2014. And now I went to court – I’ve got a debt that is growing. If I fail to find a way out they can confiscate both the shop and the restaurant. Then we won’t be able to pay for the house. They’ll take the house away, even though we’ve got proper documents to the place. And we’ll get expelled from Jerusalem forever. And they’ll use our place for something else. That’s the problem every Palestinians faces in Al-Quds,” says Ghazi.
There is not a single Arab bank operating in Jerusalem. Even when some aid funds raise money for Palestinians and transfer the money, the Israeli banks can turn the transaction down, or they can freeze the account, or simply “lose” the money. And the money meant to help those in need to pay out their debts will never reach the intended recipients.
“We are trying hard, but there are no jobs,” says Ghazi with a sad smile. “The interest on our debt keeps growing. In the end, they’ll put us in jail and take everything away. Whenever people see the tax collectors, they close down – and they come every three or four days. Last week, they came on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday.”
Isn’t this what has happened to the USA? By slow, incremental measures over a long period of time, taxes have been slapped of anything that moves and everything that does not move, including the latest concept of Toll road fees and patents on seeds and other food sources . As we saw after the housing crisis in 2008, many people lost their homes, families were evicted and reduced to living in their cars. While the 99% are taxed to death, the 1% do not pay tax. Please see this video, it is an eye opener!
In conjunction with the ever rising cost of living, unemployment has risen to alarming degrees. In the USA they shipped off all the jobs to China. This looks like the same game plan that has happened to the Palestinians. High taxes, high unemployment, home evictions, ever increasing poverty levels and basically through a slow and methodical method, dispossessing a whole society of its property, its wealth and it’s ability to support itself and survive.
Nadezhda Kevorkova goes onto say :
“Just like the majority of Palestinians, Ghazi got to know what prison is like at an early age: “During the First Intifada, they swept everyone, young and old. I was 15 at the time. They held me for three days of questioning.”
Interrogating and torturing children is a common practice in Israel. If the captured individual is really clean, they simply tie them up blindfold to a little chair with the upset balance and leave them balancing on that chair for hours, even days.If the captured individual is guilty of something – for instance, he threw stones – such interrogations can last for weeks. They can torture with electricity, very loud music, or put them in a disciplinary cell. Their purpose is to break the will of children and make them work for the secret services, spy for them, work for them. Not every child is strong enough to withstand it. They don’t allow any relatives of even lawyers to see the arrested children.”
Israel is a militarised police state. Is the USA any different? The USA has the highest per capita prison population. Dehumanization is also part of the process. In the last ten years we have seen the horrors of Abu Ghraib, Guantanimo Bay, whistle blowers finally lifting the lid on CIA Black sites around the world and more recently disappearing civilians in Chicago while the National Defense Authorisation Act (NDAA), detention without trial, has been signed into law.
If we stand back and look at history the same cycles have been repeated over and over and over again. Allow a society to build itself up, gradually and imperceptibly impoverish it with increasing taxes and high costs of living. Break it down until it is dispossessed, disempowered and dehumanized and then send it to war through divide and conquer methods. Mix, stir repeat. Those in power thereby continuously enrich themselves and feed off society like a parasite, until they kill it off and then move on. The process follows the same cycles of spring, summer, autumn, winter and the gathering of the harvest.
We are all Palestinians now, the fact is, we have always been. And those in power have used this recipe from time immemorial. The sheep are nurtured, then they are shorn, then they are slaughtered.
The USA, NATO and Japan are building up to WW3 with Russia, China and Iran. Are Russia, China and Iran in on this cycle and will they play the game? Or will they take the opportunity to break the cycle once and for all and for humanity to move onto a far more enlightened and advanced species?
Katherine Frisk is or was an enigma. We know that the amazing world-changing book, Jesus Was A Palestinian, was authored by a “Katherine Frisk” but there is NO other information on “Katherine Frisk”. We don’t even have an active email for her.
Many say that Katherine was Catherine “Kate” Frisk who was born in Malta in 1933 and lived in the USA where she passed away in 2018. But that’s NOT confirmed.
It may be that “Katherine Frisk” is a nom-de-plume. Considering the subject matter in our book, it would NOT be a stretch to imagine that some would take offense to her truth-telling and so going full anonymous would make survival sense. We simply don’t know. And so we cannot 100% confirm her identity.
What we do know is that Katherine submitted over 50 articles to VT and wrote a great book. That all stopped in 2018. VT periodically does a few re-publishes of her work.
