More veterans are waiting longer for mental health services here after they return from wars in the Middle East.
Officials with the U.S. Veterans Administration’s Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System released information Monday showing wait times have increased for mental health and specialty care services.
The average wait time for mental health services jumped from 4.16 days to 10.72 days between December 2014 and July, officials said at the press conference.
Meanwhile, the average wait time for specialty care services climbed from 5.26 days to 8.1 days during the same period.
However, there was good news to share.
Officials slashed the average wait time for primary care services from 23.8 days to 8.97 days during that time.
