Lewiston Elementary students have many reasons to look forward to the school’s annual Veterans Day program, Jennefer Killoran said, and one of those reasons outshines them all.
The event set for 9 a.m. Friday in the school gymnasium will have student performances, music, poetry, guest speakers and a gun salute from Briggsville American Legion Post 329, but the purpose of the event, the longtime teacher’s aide said, is not lost on anyone — young or old.
“This (event) brings our community together, all of us, to say, ‘thank you,’ to the veterans,” Killoran said.
“It’s a connection with them, a love for them and (to know) they’re real people. They’re grandpas, they’re dads and they’re moms.”
