Typical community services agencies begin their existence by designing a service model, soliciting funding, and then “fitting” consumers into the programs and services that have been designed. Supportive Concepts for Families, Inc. is different. They began with nothing more than a service philosophy and a passion for working with individuals with disabilities. Their philosophy is simple, each person who goes to them for service is unique and has unique needs. They believe in building services around the individual and not compelling the person to adapt to a pre-designed program or service. The Supportive Concepts for Families, Inc. service philosophy requires us to establish and arrange services to accommodate the unique needs of each individual.
Recognizing the need to build services around the individual’s specific needs, Supportive Concepts for Families, Inc. was founded in 1993. Today, still stressing that same service philosophy, the SCFF Board includes consumers and their family members and members of the surrounding business community. Supportive Concepts for Families, Inc. has grown rapidly as a provider of public supports to individuals with disabilities and currently supports hundreds of individuals in counties throughout Pennsylvania. While Supportive Concepts for Families, Inc. began in Berks County, it also serves individuals in, Lehigh, Schuylkill, Huntingdon, Lebanon, Mifflin and Juniata Counties, as well as other surrounding counties.
