The EnCorps STEM Military Pathway builds upon their success in helping transition STEM professionals into teachers by recruiting military veterans who have a passion for STEM knowledge and its application. The EnCorps STEM Military Pathway recruits, selects, trains and supports experienced STEM professionals from the military into new careers as teachers, providing children in low-performing schools with excellent math and science education.
EnCorps partners with the federal organization Troops to Teachers, a US Department of Defense program that helps eligible military personnel begin new careers as teachers in public schools. More information on eligibility, qualifications and financial resources is available through Accredited Schools Online.
Once connected to EnCorps, military veterans are able to access their application process in the same way that all other applicants can. EnCorps staff takes special care to accommodate veterans’ specific requests and needs.
Enduring STEM achievement, access, and literacy gaps disproportionately limit low income, under-resourced, and minority student opportunities. EnCorps believes that STEM professionals, when prepared, are uniquely positioned to meaningfully utilize their talent and real-world expertise as EnCorps STEM Teachers to deliver an authentic, rigorous, and relevant STEM education to the students who need it most.
The EnCorps STEM Teachers Program recruits, selects, develops, and supports the best and brightest STEM professionals and military veterans to become teachers, as an innovative, long-term solution to the shortage of high quality, impactful educators for under-resourced students in high need communities.
