A group of Army Rangers will be racing in the IRONMAN competition in Louisville to bring awareness to veteran’s issues.
The Sua Sponte Elite Racing Team is made up of active and retired Amy Rangers, along with their families. Members of the team have ties to the 75th Ranger Regiment, a special operations unit.
Their goal is to help veterans transition back into society and reduce veteran suicides.
“Our veterans have seen some pretty atrocious things defending this country that wasn’t their choice, that was the job that they were doing, but it’s also our job to integrate them back and give them something to focus on that’s positive,” said Chad Wegner, a member of the group and a retired Army Ranger.
