Veterans' creativity, bonds honored at Jackson festival

TaraMa and Jerry Davenport had finished their afternoon rehearsal, but music for others worked a groove on the Air Force veterans. In an out-of-the-way spot, they started to dance, caught up in the spirit of the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival.
headquartered at the Jackson Marriott, brings in more than 120 military veterans from around the country for a celebration that does more than hone and highlight their talents. The gathering continues the healing that can begin with creative arts therapy, then flourish in personal achievement, camaraderie and community success and support.
The 2016 National Veterans Creative Arts Festival, co-presented by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the American Legion Auxiliary, is hosted in Jackson by the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery VA Medical Center.
