New research shows that one in five people over 50 have been refused finance and insurance purely because of their age.
Age discrimination is alive and well in the financial services industry, especially when people are looking to buy motor and travel insurance.
Specialist over-50s insurer SunLife discovered that older people often get a worse deal as part of its new campaign, Welcome To Life After 50.
It surveyed thousands of people in their 50s, 60s and 70s and found that many were charged more for insurance purely because of their age or turned away altogether.
