Florida consumer confidence dips over the month

Florida consumers are slightly less confident than they were last month. According to the most recent Florida Consumer Sentiment Index released Tuesday, confidence dropped 1.2 points over the month to 96.5 points in August. The highest score is 150.
“In the last two months, July and August, Floridians’ perceptions of present economic conditions shifted slightly downward,” said Hector Sandoval, director of the Economic Analysis Program at the University of Florida. “Nonetheless, they remained 2.6 points higher than the average over the last 12 months.”
According to the index, men were slightly more optimistic than women about their personal finances compared with last year. While male sentiment went up 4.8 points, it dipped by 4.7 points for women.
