Say this about the nation’s 45th president: he can’t control the skies above.
President Donald Trump experienced his first month of jobs destruction, and the first for the economy in seven years, after 33,000 jobs were lost in September as a result of the hurricanes that hit Texas and Florida.
That lowers the number of new jobs on his watch to 1.12 million, though the hurricane damage probably goosed wage growth, since low-paying positions in industries like the restaurant business were lost during the month.
The stock market, by contrast, has by and large resembled an up arrow to the right.
