2017 marks a century of women in the Armed Forces. Today, more than 200,000 women are in the active-duty military, including 69 generals and admirals.

In conjunction with partners, Shining Service Worldwide, Stand Beside Them, Women Veterans Interactive and John Jay College of Criminal Justice, L’Oréal USA will host and celebrate 50 active duty women U.S. military personnel and veterans along with their family members, on Thursday, November 16, for a day of beauty education and services called “Have a BEAUTIFUL Day.” The day will include hair, makeup and manicure consultations and services offered by 42 volunteer professionals.

The event’s keynote speakers are Lindsay Gutierrez, Ms. Veteran America 2017and Jordanna Mallach, Special Programs and Outreach Coordinator, New York State Division of Veterans Affairs

“Have a BEAUTIFUL Day” begins with a kickoff breakfast at 8:00 a.m. at Terminal Warehouse and concludes at 4:15 p.m. at L’Oréal USA headquarters, 10 Hudson Yards (30th Street at 10th Avenue).

Following breakfast, the Women Warriors and their guests will be greeted in front of L’Oréal USA headquarters by a gauntlet of more than 100 American flag-waving employees lining the entrance to the building. They will be escorted to L’Oréal USA’s Technical Center, configured for the day with a nail salon, makeup room and hair styling stations.

After a brief welcome by L’Oréal executives the women will meet their stylists for personal beauty consultations featuring cut and color diagnosis and styling, and later, makeup applications and manicures. At the conclusion of lunch, they will hear from keynote speaker Air Force veteran Lindsay Gutierrez, Ms. Veteran America2017, followed by a panel of veterans who work at L’Oréal USA.

L’Oréal USA is committed to hiring veterans and “Have a BEAUTIFUL Day” is one of the strategic initiatives of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion designed to impact the workplace and marketplace. The event seeks to raise awareness of the needs of active duty and veteran U.S. military personnel and to provide unique, direct programs to make beauty accessible to them.

Participating brands in today’s event include: Carol’s Daughter, Essie, Garnier, Giorgio Armani, Kérastase, Lancôme, L’Oréal Paris, L’Oréal Professionnel, Mizani, NYX Professional Makeup, Pureology, Redken, and Yves Saint Laurent.

9:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. – Beauty Consultation & Services at L’Oréal USA Technical Center

11 a.m. to 12 p.m. noon – Roundtable with partners and HR recruiting team at L’Oréal USA Conference Room at Tech Center

12:00 p.m. noon to 1:45 p.m. -Lunch/Networking with L’Oréal USA Veterans Think Tank members

2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Keynote remarks from Air Force veteran and Ms. Veteran America 2017 Lindsay Gutierrez

2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. – Veterans @ L’Oréal discuss their journey and offer advice/guidance to the service women including Q&A
