Soon after, he settled on a career with the U.S. Army, served with distinction around the world and saw combat in Vietnam and the first Gulf War. After the military, Jan began a second career with the Florida Department of Corrections. Jan has been described by many as a great friend and a good guy. As a kind and generous person, Jan loved his family and was particularly devoted to his children. He was extremely proud of their accomplishments. Jan is survived by his mother, Valda, of Sebring; brother, Michael (Margie) of Tallahassee; his children, Jason, Morgana and Mason of Germany; his only granddaughter, Eve, of Germany; his nephews, Michael and John of Tallahassee, Fla.; and his life-long friend, Mike O’Steen of Hialeah.
