Twenty Years After Operation Desert Storm, Veterans are Dying Early in Life
Christopher L. Ostrander (1960 – 2011)
Christopher L. Ostrander, 50, of Mascoutah, Ill., born May 16, 1960, in Grayling, Mich., died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at the Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville, Ill.
Christopher was a retired master sergeant from the United States Air Force and currently employed as a trailer mechanic at R & L Carriers in Sauget, Ill. He was a Desert Storm and Gulf War U. S. Air Force veteran and member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Ostrander; his stepfather, Al Widmayer; and a sister, Karen Bergman. He is survived by his wife, Cathy L., nee Boly, Ostrander whom he married on April 17, 1982, in Overland, Mo.; a daughter, Beth (Brian) Stambler of West Valley, Utah; a son, Paul Ostrander of Mascoutah, Ill.; his mother, Joan, nee Latuszek, Ostrander Widmayer of Black Mountain, N.C.; a brother, Craig Ostrander of Asheville, N.C.; mother-in-law, Dorothy Boly of Overland, Mo.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill (Betty) Boly of Florissant, Mo., Janet (Kelly) Foley of Davenport, Iowa, John (Kris) Boly of O’Fallon, Mo., Steve (Lori) Boly of Ballwin, Mo., and Jeannie (Tom) Nigh of Bridgeton, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American heart Assn. or DAV (Disabled American Veterans). Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.
Visitation: Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, Ill. A prayer service will be held 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at the Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Father Jim Thomas officiating. Military graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
